Start With the Adhesive Process Window

Every adhesive has a recommended application range. The hose must maintain it while remaining within the limits of its liner, heater, sensor, insulation, and fittings. Excessive heat may accelerate oxidation, create char, shorten seal life, and change open time.

Request viscosity data at several temperatures. This shows whether a hot melt heated hose needs a larger internal diameter or whether a safe temperature adjustment can provide the required flow.

Match Diameter to Output Demand

Internal diameter affects pressure drop and residence volume. A narrow passage may suit intermittent bead work but restrict a high-output spray line. A large passage reduces pressure loss, yet holds more molten material and may increase degradation during stops.

Keep the hose away from sharp metal, moving chains, wet cleaning zones, and external heat. Supports should not compress insulation. Reciprocating movement requires a hose rated for dynamic service.

Check Uniformity, Not Only the Setpoint

Reliable adhesive hose temperature control depends on heater distribution, sensor position, insulation, ambient conditions, and controller response. During commissioning, allow complete warm-up and observe adhesive at the gun. Cold sections raise viscosity and pressure; local hot spots may damage material even when the displayed value looks normal.
