A Disk Swirl Nozzle is a type of fluid-spray or adhesive-dispensing nozzle in which the fluid passes through a swirl chamber or swirl disc (often a thin metal sheet with cut-outs) so that the fluid acquires a swirling motion, then exits through an orifice (sometimes an orifice disc) producing a controlled spray pattern (often a hollow cone or wide fan) rather than a simple straight jet. In adhesive dispensing (hot-melt) systems, the “Swirl Disc” version is used to do “spray or swirl” type application (rather than “bead” or “string”) of glue. 

Better coverage: Because the fluid is swirled and exits in a widening pattern, you can cover a broader area with a single nozzle (versus a straight bead) — useful in adhesive laying for broader adhesive application.

Controlled droplet/filament size: The swirl chamber design helps control the velocity, sheet thickness, breakup, and hence droplet or filament size. In adhesive spray systems this helps control adhesive usage, improve bonding, reduce waste.

Interchangeability / tuning: Many swirl-disc nozzles allow selection of disc orifice size, swirl chamber geometry, etc, so you can tune for flow rate, spray angle, pattern width for your specific application.

Efficient pattern formation: The swirling motion helps convert pressure energy into kinetic energy (via vortex) effectively, enabling good atomization (or filamentization) without additional air-atomizing or complicated extra hardware.
